Northsea Foundation celebrates 30 years
Amsterdam, 31st January 2011. Seas At Risk member the North Sea Foundation has celebrated its 30th birthday with a symposium and auction that helped raise €2000 for the organization.
The event was held last December and was attended by 150 people who took part in a day of workshops on fisheries, waste in the sea and clean shipping.
The North Sea Foundation - known in the Netherlands as Stichting De Noordzee - is the nature and environmental organisation dedicated to the sustainable use of the North Sea. Shipping, fisheries, spatial planning and nature conservation are their key areas of focus.
Alongside national and international advocacy work, the North Sea Foundation uses education and information programmes to show a broad audience, such as school children and water sports enthusiasts, how special the North Sea is and to show people how they can play their own part in guaranteeing a clean and healthy North Sea.
