Setting sail to save the Baltic
Sandhamn, 10th August 2011. Seas At Risk member, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC), has set sail for the month of August to publicize the stress being put on the fragile Baltic Sea.
Sailing on the ‘Shamrock’, SSNC will take in numerous venues across Sweden with a crew of staff members and 16 young people to highlight the environmental situation in the Baltic Sea and to demonstrate simple ways that individuals can contribute to its protection and restoration.
SSNC has a large Marine Network with 400 volunteers and runs joint campaigns, knowledge sharing programmes and training course. The network aims to compliment the national office to spread environmental messages through coordinated efforts across the country.
